DIVE SITES

Dive Sites

A brief introduction to Palau's signature dive sites. Your guide will explain current strength and depth for each site based on the day's conditions.

Manta ray at German Channel, Palau
Sharks in Palau
Blue Hole, Palau

Blue Corner

Advanced

Palau's signature drift dive. Hook into the reef against a strong current and watch big schools — sharks, Napoleon wrasse and more.

Blue Hole

Intermediate

Enter through four large openings near the surface and pass through a huge underwater cavern leading toward Blue Corner. Light pouring in from above creates a cathedral-like open cave.

German Channel

Intermediate

Famous for its manta ray cleaning station. Dug during German colonial rule for boat passage — spot mantas along with a variety of smaller marine life.

Ulong Channel

Advanced

A fast drift dive over table coral gardens. A popular strong-current site where shark packs and large fish schools often appear.

Siaes Corner

Advanced

An outer-reef wall dive. With luck you may spot hammerhead sharks and other big pelagics — a seasonal favorite.

Siaes Tunnel

Intermediate

A swim-through dive passing through an underwater tunnel. Beautiful sea fans and soft coral thrive both inside and around it.

Peleliu Cut

Expert

Strong downcurrents occur here. A powerful-current site at the southern tip of Peleliu — expect schooling fish and sharks. Experienced divers only.

Peleliu Corner

Expert

Strong downcurrents occur here. A wall dive with a steep drop-off and strong current — high chance of large fish schools.

Peleliu Express

Expert

Strong downcurrents occur here. True to its name, a fast-moving drift dive with sharks and large schools amid strong currents. Advanced only.

PALAU MANIAC DIVING

Seasonal Special Dives

Special dives on Palau that can only be experienced on specific dates. "Spawning dives" — when fish gather in one place to lay eggs — happen only at a set time tied to the moon's phase, making them truly special moments. This is exactly why enthusiast divers plan their Palau trips around this timing.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most before booking with I Love Palau. For anything else, reach us on WhatsApp or Instagram.

Does I Love Palau operate its own dive boats?

Yes. I Love Palau Dive Resort owns and operates its own private pier along with three dedicated dive boats. On busy days we may also charter extra boats from the rental mooring right next to our pier to run together with our fleet, and if a boat ever has a problem, guests can switch to another boat immediately. We don't rent boats because we have none — we own our fleet and simply add capacity when it's needed.

Can I join if I have no diving experience?

Yes — if you're not certified yet, you can start with the PADI Open Water course (2 days, gear included, minimum 2 divers to run). That said, many of Palau's signature dive sites have strong currents, so for fun diving we recommend an Advanced Open Water certification or higher.

When is the best time to dive in Palau?

Palau offers diving year-round, with different marine life to see each season. Manta rays peak from October through February, when they appear in such numbers you can even spot them snorkeling at German Channel. Blue-line sea bream spawning continues at Peleliu from late February through early May. Palau Shark Week — when Moorish idols gather to spawn and sharks gather to hunt them — centers on January and February. Since all spawning follows the lunar cycle and tides, exact dates shift every year, so if you're interested in a spawning dive, please ask us for that year's dates before booking.

Do you provide airport pickup?

Yes. Round-trip airport transfer is included with every accommodation dive package.

Can I rent dive equipment?

Yes. BCD and regulator are $10/day each, the suit/mask/fin set is $10/day, and a full set is $30/day. Renting for 4 days or more drops the rate to $20/day.

What languages can I use to contact you?

You can reach us in Korean via KakaoTalk, or in English via WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram. On the water, every dive is led by our divemasters and boat captains, most with over 20 years of experience in Palau.

Is there a minimum group size to run a trip?

It depends on the activity. Fun diving (3 tanks/day) requires a minimum of 3 divers; Rock Island tours, the Jellyfish Lake/Milky Way tour and night dives require a minimum of 5; PADI courses run with as few as 2 students.

Where can I stay?

Our dive packages offer a choice of U World (Apali Resort), Vacation Hotel, or Palasia Hotel. U World and Vacation Hotel are both a 5-minute walk from the I Love Palau dive shop, while Palasia Hotel is not within walking distance — it's about a 10-minute drive.

Is Nitrox available?

Yes. We have our own precision-fill Nitrox membrane system, capable of filling up to 480 tanks a day at 32%. We also offer a Nitrox certification course.

Can non-diving companions join?

Yes. The Rock Island tour and the Jellyfish Lake/Milky Way tour are snorkeling-based, so companions without a diving certification can join. They can also come along on the dive boat itself — please contact us for the fee in that case.

How much is the deposit, and is it refundable?

The deposit is KRW 200,000 per person, and it's a booking-guarantee deposit that holds your spot. Once you arrive in Palau and pay your tour balance locally, we refund the full deposit amount in KRW. If you need to cancel, you'll receive a full refund up to 2 months before departure, 50% up to 1 month before departure, and no refund within 1 month of departure.

How much is the Koror environmental/permit fee?

The Rock Islands permit is $50, and the permit that includes Jellyfish Lake entry is $100. Each is valid for 5 days from purchase and is paid separately from diving/tour fees.

Are there logged-dive experience requirements?

Peleliu diving requires Advanced Open Water certification and a minimum of 200 logged dives. Other sites have no fixed log requirement — after you arrive, we start with a check dive to see how you're doing, then guide you to the sites that best match that day's current and your skill level. If you'd like to dive current-heavy sites such as Blue Corner or Siaes Corner, we can assign a dedicated divemaster so you can enjoy them comfortably. We're happy to work this out together during your booking consultation.

How do I pay?

The deposit is paid first by bank transfer, and the remaining tour fee can only be paid in cash, in US dollars, once you're in Palau. Card payments are not available locally, so please bring USD cash.

Where are you located?

I Love Palau Dive Resort is in Medalaii, Koror, Palau — close to downtown Koror and easy to reach.

Do you offer PADI certification courses?

Yes. A PADI-certified instructor personally teaches the Open Water, Advanced, Nitrox and Rescue courses, with equipment included in the course fee. We also run the Divemaster course. The Instructor course is taught in Palau by a PADI Course Director invited from Korea, with the exam held in Korea; since it requires bringing in an outside instructor, it runs with a minimum of 4 participants.
